What is the role of Media and do they justify their roles?


These days we usually avoid watchig and reading News due to lack of quality. I have one question how many of us read news paper daily or watch news channels? I am sure that hardly 30-40% people were doing this.


It doesn’t mean that we don’t want to read it or watch it but it means that we are not getting the news in a way that interests us. We have so many news papers and so many channels which run 24*7; still we don’t get all the information which is related with the society or which can contribute in the growth of the society. Most of the time News Paper and News Channels are full of meaningless and bogus news like murders, rapes or accidents or the conflicting statements of our so called great political authorities.


All of them are only focusing on one thing and that is money. At any cost they want to be No. 1, so that they should get more money. Journalists don’t want to come out from their comfort zone and don’t want to take pain of getting meaningful or productive news.


Some of the News Channels conduct Talk Show, where they discuss on some burning issues but the problem is that in 30mins show, half of the time they utilize for advertisement.


Even some time they don’t know what kind of news should be part of ‘Breaking News’. Most of the time it looks like a cheap comedy show.


They should promote meaningful and productive things. They should more concern about the development of country and society.


Still we have some good news Channels which give us meaningful information but that is not enough. . The 24*7 concept is not bad but its implementation is pathetic.



Just consider one fact that in last few years’ people are more associating with networking sites to share their views and concern. Now we all are connected through World Wide Web, so it’s easy to gather the required information.


One side it is good for common man but another side it’s a kind of alarm for Media people. If this will continue then one day no one will take pain to watch News Channels and read news Paper.
